Privacy Policy
In case you’re wondering, here’s how I use any information you provide to The Vellum Journal.
In short, I use cookies to collect data about your traffic for Google Analytics — these aren’t meant to personally identify you in any way, but they let me know information like which pages are being viewed the most, where my readers are from, and how you navigate my site. I also use Amazon.com affiliate links – when you visit Amazon through my site, Amazon collects a cookie that they use to give me a small commission on any purchase you make from that link. Finally, if you sign up for my mailing list or send information via the contact form, I ask for your name and email address. This information isn’t combined with any of the cookies mentioned above.
www.thevellumjournal.com is run by The Vellum Journal. If you choose to use our Service, then you agree to the collection and use of information in relation with this policy. The Personal Information that we collect are used for providing and improving the Service. We will not use or share your information with anyone except as described in this Privacy Policy.
1. Google Analytics
The Vellum Journal uses Google Analytics to gather aggregate visitor information. I use Google Analytics Demographics and Interest Reporting, which means Google Analytics can collect data about your visit via Google advertising cookies and identifiers, in addition to data collected through a standard Google Analytics implementation. The first-party cookies and identifiers and third-party cookies and identifiers through Google will never be sold or shared to others without your consent; they will only be used by The Vellum Journal to make changes to the website to improve user experience.
I will never identify users or facilitate the merging of personally identifiable information with non-personally identifiable information collected through any Google advertising product or feature without the user’s (your) prior affirmative (i.e., opt-in) consent to, that identification or merger. I will not attempt to disaggregate data that Google reports in aggregate.
Please see Google Analytics’ currently available opt-outs for the web.
2. Mailing List
In order to subscribe you to my mailing list, I will ask for your name and email address. These will only be recorded if you enter them into the site in order to sign up for the mailing list or if you fill out a contact form. The Vellum Journal uses a third party to collect and distribute emails. Your name and email address will never be shared or sold with any other third party. If you would like to opt-out of these emails, there will be an Unsubscribe button on the bottom of every email.
3. Information we collect
We collect non-personally identifying information which cannot be used to personally identify you and include data such as anonymous usage data, technical data such as your platform or IP address, and the pages you visit. This will be collected via cookies, small text files which include an anonymous unique identifier. The only personally identifying information we collect is your name and email address if submitted in a form. You do not need to submit your name or email address in order to use this site.
